ShopSavvy Platform Update

ShopSavvy is current available on Android (Droid, Hero, Nexus, Eris, G1, MyTouch) and iPhone 3GS.  We are currently working on versions for:

  • Android (Tattoo, Lancaster – i.e. non-AF cameras) – April 2010
  • iPhone (2G/3G – i.e. non-AF cameras) – March 2010
  • Windows Mobile – May 2010
  • Blackberry – May 2010
  • PalmOS – June 2010

Based on our current workload and staff these dates seem reasonable. Of course, our iPhone version took us almost three months longer than we expected (and we still don’t have the 2G/3G working well).  We get LOTS of emails each day, hopefully this update will help.

  1. May 2010 for Windows Mobile!?! First Jan, then Feb, now May. Man this stinks! I guess time to move on and find another similar app.

  2. by PalmOS, did you mean Palm WebOS for Pre and Pixi? I’m hoping that is the case since PalmOS has been discontinued.

  3. Since the WinMo guy has moved on, can Palm WebOS get the newly opened May 2010 slot?

  4. This is what I call BS b/c first they say there very close to a windows mobile release by feb and they need a good 2 solid weeks now all of a sudden may 2010?? this is what causes people to lose interest and feel like they’ve been had!! sorry but this is unacceptable!!!

  5. sorry but, booooooooooooooooooooooooooooo….
WinMo in May.. blah. Of course it’ll be on the iPad which just came out. and WinMo, has been around for how long?
i thought we were trying to make the computer smaller. Now Apple has this great idea to make the ipod bigger. Next year they’ll release a model with a a dvd drive. Then they’ll add an ikeyboard and imouse to plug into it. Then finally in 2015 they are going to release the iPC with an itower that has hard drives, slo…ts to add additional componets (video cards, sound cards, etc), and cooling componets.
btw, i’m not moving on like the other guy, can’t risk loosing our May spot in line…lol

  6. There are lots of issues we can’t necessarily discuss due to a number of NDAs. But let me assure you that if it were simply a matter of work that we needed to do we would commit the two weeks of coding (i.e. man weeks, not actual weeks) to finish the WinMo version sooner than later. I set the May date because I can’t foresee it taking longer. Our hope is that everything falls into place – i.e. our schedule and the schedules of third parties and we are done sooner. You guys need to stop with all the ‘hate’ – I mean we are doing our best. We are a very small company right now.

  7. guys i think “amuse” has a very good point and you can’t get mad at the guys for pushing it back. Trust me i want the winmo update like you all but they can’t ship it before it’s done. Like all company’s (my own as well) giving out dates on software is always a bad idea because people seem to go mad when it’s met. So i think giving Q2 or an extended deadline is a very good plan. Then when it ships earlier everyone will be happy!

Cut them some slack I am sure they will get it done as soon as they can.

  8. you guys are like our favorite sports team. Your team promises you that this year is going to be better than last, or this year we are bringing home the pennant. Then they don’t deliver or they go on a 15 game losing streak, being a Cleveland sports fan i know this all to well. So you heckle the team a little bit, tell them they stink and do better…. but at the end of the day, we still love them and will get in a fight to protect their name the next. So what i’m saying is that, you guys need to do better, no promises you can’t deliver… but we still love you and will cheer you on tomorrow, besides why do we keep checking the website every other day. See ya guys in may.

  10. you guys should have a signup for a newsletter that will notify us of the winmo release… i checked this site every week for the past few months and now im going to stop… and ill probably forget about shopsavvy… so a newsletter for simple notification purposes would be great. you probably wont do this but it would be great for those of us waiting for so long on winmo.

another thought… maybe you can release a beta before may?

  13. I’ve seen it in action on a friend’s iPhone, and would really love it for my BlackBerry 9700. Other barcode apps exist, but nothing to ShopSavvy quality. I’m patient tho. It’s not a life requirement, it’s just very cool and handy. And you can’t complain as it’s a free service! Not like you paid them £/$20 before christmas and still havent got your product.

  14. The WebOS 1/4 SDK is now available for download at http://developer.palm.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&layout=page&id=1788. The Camera API has been extended to let an application initiate video capture, in addition to image capture. It still isn’t too late earn some $$ in Palms developer contest. I thought you might want to consider moving the Palm WebOS version of ShopSavvy up in the rollout list.

  15. At least Big in Japan isn’t forgetting the Mobile Orphans. Now that Windows is leaving 6.5 in favor of 7, we need all the love we can get. Thank you. Can’t wait to use my Omnia II and haggle with Shop Savvy.
