ShopSavvy updated for Droid!
Our friends at Motorola made an awesome phone, but ShopSavvy was having issues with the camera. Rylan spent this weekend fixing it. Motorola promises a camera firmware update shortly (the camera doesn’t take the best photos right now) and it should make ShopSavvy work even better. We still plan to port ‘meatloaf’ (our blurry barcode scanning library) to Android in order to support ALL cameras that manufacturers might release. In the meantime, enjoy ShopSavvy on your droid – I am!

I’ve been trying to use this application on my new Droid and haven’t been able to get a good picture. I’m glad to hear that you’re releasing new updates. Most of the time the pictures are too dark, there should be a way to use the built-in flash for the droid camera.

I put it on my new Droid yesterday, tested it on an opened Christmas gift — a portable drive still in the box with the barcode — it worked perfectly! (Showed several stores in the area, prices, map, etc…)
Also SEEMS like the camera works better now for having installed it…
Thank you!

I downloaded Shop Savvy the day I got the phone, however I can not get local stores or prices. Am I doing something wrong here? My scanner is working a lot better now also.

What are you scanning? Which store did you go to? Hopefully you reviewed our FAQ that explains that we don’t cover groceries well.
