How to invest in Big in Japan Inc.?

You enjoy using ShopSavvy so much you were thinking to yourself, “I wonder if I could invest in this company?”  The short answer is ‘no, you can’t’.  The long answer is that we already raised $700,000 from Architel and won around $300,000 from Google (read more about that here) in 2008.  With only four employees we have a LONG runway before we run out of capital.  Our current plan is to stay small and nimble until it makes sense to raise additional capital.  When will it make sense?  When one of two things occurs: a) the opportunity to raise capital at an attractive valuation presents itself or b) the lack of additional capital begins to hinder our ability to compete in the mobile marketplace. That being said, if you are interested in investing in the company feel free to contact Alexander Muse (email is best amuse@biggu.com).

  1. Is there any type of api that can be run on a laptop that would allow the laptop equiped with a bar code scanner to use shopsavvy?

Also, are you interested in uploading records of purchases from retailers that are purchasing goods from Sams Wholesale club or Costco?

  2. Kent - never really thought of that. We don’t have a web version of ShopSavvy (i.e. the only version is on the mobile device). What do you mean regarding “Also, are you interested in uploading records of purchases from retailers that are purchasing goods from Sams Wholesale club or Costco?”

Do you have the UPCs for items purchased from Sams or Costco, i.e. on the receipts/records?

  3. I second the suggestion of a simple website. As I use ShopSavy more and more I sometimes find the urge/need to login while on my PC to do things like: browse items, organize/tag items, browse the web from the suggestions made by ShopSavy comparisons, etc. Obviously, I can do this from my G1’s browser but I think it is valuable to also add a simple website for a PC/Mac end user experience.

  4. I agree. Bradley Joyce is going to take a swing at the layout and design. Lets see what he comes up with. Thanks for the comment and suggestion.

  6. I don’t think so, but you never know. Have you tried the G1?
