Judgement call: No porn on ShopSavvy
Looking for a great deal on that X-rated DVD you have been waiting for? If so, ShopSavvy might not be your best source for pricing and reviews. We are making an effort to block pornographic items from ShopSavvy (we won’t guarantee you won’t receive pricing and review data on all pornographic items). We certainly have no problem with people who choose to purchase porn, we just don’t want to be involved. Hopefully you can respect our decision as we respect your right to buy whatever you choose.
Respecting people’s rights is one thing, forcing your values onto your customers by limiting your product’s functionality is another.
I’m not advocating porn here, but it’s a very slippery slope you’ve started down there, what’s next - can’t scan products related to other things you “just don’t want to be involved” with?
Maybe a personal blog would be a better forum to take a stand against things that conflict with your values.

I don’t see how the decision not to include porn pricing in the ShopSavvy app “forces” their values on their customers. If you find their decision objectionable, just don’t use the app. People have the right to allow their values to shape the products they produce. If consumers don’t like the limitations, they should look for another product.

I have to agree with MB. It falls under the same thing as a pharmacist. If you don’t want to distribute some medication then your in the wrong business. I love your product and I don’t plan on using your product for porn as the internet is full of it, but honestly if your in the business to allow barcode scanning then you should allow it. that is of course what the program is about. If you don’t wanna be involved with it then your not helping.
